Chuck Spoto always loved going to concerts. He enjoyed the awesome spectacle and the thrill of being part of an electric crowd. But, most of all, he was passionate about captivating sound. After all, there’s nothing like hearing your favorite song live on top-quality speakers.
But Chuck also had a problem. As much as he loved going to shows, something was nagging at him and keeping him from getting lost in the music. It started as a simple thought but quickly grew into the impetus for a brand-new venture. I think this could sound even better, thought Chuck. And so, STS Concert Sound was born.
Chuck was already familiar with sound equipment when he started our company. He’d worked as a FOH engineer and knew the hard work that went into great mixing. He also had his finger on the pulse of the sound reinforcement industry and how concert technology was quickly advancing. Yet, he’d go to local shows in McHenry County, IL, and still see crews using outdated tech.
So, he made it his company’s mission to bring the best new concert production equipment to the Chicago region and beyond.
Most recently, STS joined the PK Alliance to start providing cutting-edge PK Sound equipment. PK robotic systems are like nothing we’ve ever seen before because they make it possible to control vertical and horizontal dispersion and eliminate sound pollution in real-time. This equipment is not widely available yet, and we’re excited to be one of the first sound equipment rental companies to provide it.
